tales from the tailgate

I've been tailgating at New England Patriots games from 1987 to present day. What a difference a
couple of decades make! These tales from the tailgate include everything from the soul-sucking feeling
of a 1-15 season to the unexpected thrills of Super Bowl titles. I often hear people say that Pats fans
are spoiled and arrogant. Not all of us. Some, like me, still can't believe Vinatieri's kick was good.

THE VIEW FROM SECTION 109

This blog (updated a couple of times a week, not daily... that's too much work) is not the place to go for all the latest Pats' news. But if you want a longtime fan's view as the Pats try to win their fourth title then follow along. I'll chronicle the season from the tailgate to the fourth quarter of every game at the ever-expanding Patriot Place, uh, I mean Gillette Stadium. There really is a football field back there, I checked on it the other day while going to the movies. In the posts titled "Tales From The Tailgate'' I'll take a look back at some of the games I was lucky enough to have a ticket for -- or unlucky enough in the 1-15 days. Those days seem so long ago.

THE BANNERS
Three and counting. I think Mr. Kraft must still get up in the morning and drive over to the stadium to make sure they are really there. I know I would.

I work in the ancient field of newspapers so I'm taking to the electronic format to write what I want like all those who no longer read newspapers. I grew up in Boston. Went to Boston Latin High School. And then took a big step out into the world and traveled a mile down Huntington Ave. to Northeastern University. So you could say I'm a real New Englander for better... and for worse.

My Pats blog was a nominee
for best sports blog at CBSBoston.com. I didn't get the W but it was fun being nominated. When asked if Tales From The Tailgate is the best Pats blog out there, coach Belichick replied... "It is what it is."
